East Ottawa Community Galleries
May 1 to 27, 2008
Young at Art, an annual juried exhibition for youth artists between 13 and 19 years of age is in the Cumberland Gallery. This is the East Ottawa part of this citywide event which is also held in the Atrium and Centrepointe Theatre galleries at Ben Franklin Place in Nepean, and the Kanata Civic Art Gallery, all topped off with an exhibition of award winning Young at Artworks from across the city at the Foyer Gallery in the Nepean Sporstplex.
The young artists (and their teachers) brought their work in this evening. Tomorrow the work will be juried and hung. This is the third citywide version of Young at Art, and the twelfth overall (it started in Kanata). The work seems to get stronger every year. Overall, there’s been another increase in submissions to the event.
The Gloucester Gallery will be showing the work of Wendy Feldberg during the same time frame.
March 27 to April 29, 2008
Arteast has both galleries for their current show Time of Renewal. A variety of media and styles from this energetic organization is the order of the day.
February 21 to March 25, 2008
The second floor Cumberland Gallery has Dennis Vance’s show, Envisage. Monotype prints, etchings, a few oils and a watercolour for good measure. Dennis uses his unique style to deliver images of local landscapes.
Hamid Ayoub is showing acrylic works in the Gloucester Gallery. The openings for both shows were held this past weekend and saw a nice crowd come out on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.

Hamid Ayoub discusses his work and life with visitors to the February 24th opening of his solo exhibition at the Gloucester Gallery, 255 Centrum Blvd, Main Floor, Orléans.
I work for the City of Ottawa, capital city of Canada. My official title is Arts Specialist and one of my ongoing tasks is to coordinate exhibitions in the two east Ottawa community galleries (Gloucester and Cumberland galleries).
My goal for this section of the site is to provide information about current exhibitions in these galleries.
These galleries are used by local and regional artists and community arts organizations. Long-standing agreements between some of the arts organizations and the municipalities to which they once belonged before amalgamation have been honoured, resulting in annual exhibitions reserved for their use.
The majority of exhibitions are by artists who respond to a general call by submitting their work to a peer assessment process. All annual community arts organizations exhibitions are also determined by independent juries.
